About Grant Mathews

Mr. Mathews has taught in the Liberal Schools since 2006, but has been in the profession since 2003.  He taught band at the Intermediate Schools for 10 years, and now teachers at the high school as the head director of “That” Liberal Band.  Mr. Mathews performs with community ensmebles throughout the area.  He is also a percussion consultant in the SW Kansas, and advises several schools in the area with percussion needs.  Mr. Mathews is a member of Grace Lutheran Church, and is involved in the community.  He spends his summers cleaning band instruments at Midwest Music in Salina, KS, where he hand polishes the Silver Sousas of the K-State Marching Band. He also works at High Plains Music Camp at FHSU in the summer, and likes to play golf whenever he has time.  Playing drums is his passion, and he enjoys several opportunities to play in bands and musical pits throughout the year.  He attended FHSU, where he recieved his Bachelor of Music degree.  He has an ESL endorsement from K-State, and is currently working his Master's degree at K-State.  Mr. Mathews is not married and has no children, but is very proud of his 7 nieces and nephews and 5 Grand Nieces and Nephews.
