I have attended numerous AP Trainings in APUSH and Human Geography. I have attended AP conferences in Chicago. I have attended AVID training in the following areas: Social Studies Pathways I and II, and all 4 AVID elective trainings in San Diego, Chicago, Dallas, and Kansas City, I have attended CTE workshops in Hutchinson and Manhattan, KS. As a member of TASK (a TAH Grant though Chanute High School) I earned my MA, and attended spring colloquiums in Topeka, KS for three years. I also did research through the Eisenhower Presidential Library in Abilene, KS. I am a past judge for the Kansas State History Day competition in Abilene at the Eisenhower Library.
I started teaching in Fall of 1999 at LHS. This is my 17th year, and it is the only school I have ever taught in. I have taught ESL Social Science, US History, World History, World Geography, American Government, Macro Economics, and Sociology. I currently teach CTE strands in LPSS, Intro to Law Enforcement, and Youth Court.
I did not become a teaher until the age of 35. Previously, I had not attended college and entered as a 32 year old freshman. Prior to that I worked for Halliburton Services (not Energy Services, that came later), as a Fracturing Equipment Operator, Blender Operator, Frac Operator, Cementing Equipment Operator, Cementer, Acid Equipment Operator, Acid Treater, and Service Supervisor.
I am married to Michelle Fox, PT, DSc, PCS. We were married in 1990, and in 1995 our son, Jared, was born. He is in his 2nd year at SWOSU, majoring in Parks and Wildlife Recreation Management/Law Enforcement. Our daughter, Amy Jo, was born 2 years later and is a Senior at LHS. Michelle, and both the kids, are LHS alumni!!!! Go 'Skins! We have a little dog we inherited in a will. Her name is Molly, she is a Boston Terrier, and we love the little dog so much.
I like to hunt, and I like to fish. I would like to insert photos, but they are photos of me with animals I've hunted and killed, and I have my gun, so it's probably best not to put them on here; however, if you ever want to see them, or talk about hunting or fishing, I am always willing to share/listen. I am a strict constructionist regarding the Constitution, and a firm believer in 2nd Amendment rights. When I'm not teaching, I am usually planning what I will teach, hunting, fishing, cooking what I killed/caught, eating, enjoying activities with my family (mostly), or I am asleep.
